Ball Valve Installation and Maintenance Knowledge

The ball valve came out in the 1950s. In order to make the performance of full welded ball valve stable and its long life, we need to pay attention to the following factors:

1. Before use, use water to clean the pipeline and the over-flow part of the valve body to prevent residual iron filings and other debris from entering the valve body cavity.

2. In the closed state of the ball valve, part of the medium still remains in the valve body, and it is also under certain pressure. Before overhauling the ball valve, close the shut-off valve in front of the ball valve, open the ball valve to be repaired, and completely release the internal pressure of the valve body. If it is an electric ball valve or a pneumatic ball valve, you should first disconnect the power and air supply.

3. General soft seal ball valves use PTFE as the sealing material, and the hard seal ball valve sealing surface is made of metal overlay welding. If you need to clean the pipeline ball valve, you need to be careful to prevent the seal from being damaged and leaking during disassembly.

4. When disassembling the flange ball valve, the bolts and nuts on the flange should be fixed first, then all the nuts should be tightened slightly, and finally fixed firmly. If the individual nuts are forcibly fixed first, and then the other nuts are fixed, the gasket surface will be damaged or broken due to uneven force between the flange surfaces, resulting in leakage of the medium when the valve flange is connected.

5. If the valve is cleaned, the solvent used must not conflict with the parts to be cleaned or corroded. If it is a special ball valve for gas, it can be cleaned with gasoline. Other parts are generally cleaned with medium water. When cleaning, the residual dust, oil stains, and other attachments should be thoroughly cleaned. If it cannot be cleaned with clean water, it can be cleaned with alcohol and other cleaning agents without damaging the valve body and parts. After cleaning, wait for the cleaning agent to completely volatilize before assembling.

6. If there is a slight leakage at the packing during use, the stem nut can be tightened slightly until the leakage stops, and the tightening cannot be continued.

7. Long-term storage in the open air will lead to corrosion of the valve body and components, which cannot be used normally. The ball valve should be protected from rain, water and moisture, and cover the flange cover tightly. Valves stored for more than 12 months should be retested during use to ensure stable performance.
