Some Problems With The Blow Down Valve

Blowdown Valves supplier will share this article with you.

1.Advantages of the blowdown valves

They increase productivity and reduce periodic downtime of equipment due to sediment deposition.

They can be automated or manually operated. They are easy to automate and easy to operate manually.

Maintenance is easy because the design is simple and maintenance requirements are minimal.

2.Operation mode of the blowdown valve

The blow down valve is used to drain some liquid from the equipment. It is connected to those devices that contain solid impurities in the working fluid. The nature of these impurities is that they will not dissolve in the working fluid and may be deposited on the surface of the equipment, which can cause problems in the operation of the equipment.

Usually, the drain valve is connected to the equipment during the operation of the liquid to the water. If the water contains solid impurities, and some or other mechanism (for example, ventilation in a cooling tower or evaporation in a boiler) continuously evaporates some of the water, the concentration of the remaining solid impurities accumulated in the equipment will increase.

If you add a lot, it will start to deposit on the surface of the device. The deposition may cause obstruction of the flow path, and processes that require heat transfer operations are even more likely to face operational difficulties.

In boiler operation, the precipitation of impurities is highest where liquid water is converted to steam. The formed scale acts as an insulating layer and prevents heat from flowing through the device. As the thickness of the oxide coating increases, the rate of steam generation decreases because the rate of heat flow decreases. It may also occur that the temperature of the metal surface due to heat accumulation increases to such a degree that the metal surface itself may be damaged.

3.Buying tips

Blowdown valves dimensions must be selected according to operating conditions. Factors to consider are:

Pressure of work

Working temperature

Displacement

Material

Size

Type

Durability

Terminal connection

End-use

4.How do the blowdown valves operate?

At startup, the valve closes. This causes pressure to rise in the gas-oil separator.

During the shutdown, the valve opens to vent the air-oil separator into the atmosphere. This is a time for pressure. The valve can also be used as a bypass valve to discharge air with the help of a compressor at startup.

5.Features of blowdown valves

Blowdown valves must be designed and made of materials that minimize the impact of fluid flow when water sometimes contains abrasive particles.

The outlet of such valves is always in the shape of a venturi tube. The stem rises without rotation.

There is a local stroke indicator that shows the location of the disk.

The bonnet free valve design facilitates easy removal, inspection, and maintenance.

6.Factors affecting discharge rate

Size of the drain line.

Boiler pressure.

The length of the drain line between the drain vessel and the boiler.

7.The function of the blowdown valves

The main function of the blowdown valves is to control the continuous flow of steam/fluid under the pressure difference. The outstanding feature of this valve is that it maintains fluid sealing and can be operated easily without any wedge operation.
